Blogging – Day Two

Today we continued working on our student blog. Students opened their posts for editing and added tags and categories in order to make the blog more organized and easy to read. We also added sharing, rating and ‘like’ features, as well as other widgets in the right margin. Some students wanted to write new posts and the rest of them added more text to the old ones. And still there is room for improvement. But we love this project work. There is always something to come back to and the students are learning ways to improve the posts on their own.

When talking with the group today we realized something. If we all post in the same blog, it will be swamped. Or what do you think? Maybe it would be better if all the groups had their own blog pages? Then we just have to make a point of commenting on each others’ blogs every week in order to have as much interaction as possible. It’s really easy to open a blog page for free at http://wordpress.com and on this page we could share the activities that we do and how we do them and do the same activities in the three student blogs that belong to each group respectively. It would be like each having their own school paper, but only better when there will be comments and ratings on individual posts by their peers in foreign countries. Let us know what you think about this.

Hope to hear from you soon!

  1. I was happy to see that some of our students wanted to start a new blog post though it was from our part enough just to edit the old one and read the other posts on the Can I Help You -blog. They just had some idea or liked the idea of posting so much that they wanted to write a new now that they had noticed that they are able to do it. And it even looks like “real English writing” as one of them said. :) A Blog really seems to be a motivating tool.
